The Cairngorms National Park is the highest and most remote upland area in Britain, containing 5 of the 6 highest mountains in Scotland. The scenery is cut through by the purest mountain rivers and by beautiful glens lined with ancient Caledonian pine forest. Mountain Biking amid this stunning scenery is a privileged experience not to be missed.

We will be exploring the flowing singletrack trails of Rothiemurchas and Glen Feshie, venturing onto the high paths that cross the spectacular alpine semi-tundra of the Cairn Gorm massif, and feeling the sandy, drifty flow down the awesome glen of the Lairig Ghru.

This can be a tough and remote place to ride a bike but the sheer variety of trails means that it is also an adventure suitable for riders of more modest ability and experience.

Your Cairngorms Accommodation

On this Cairngorms mountain biking holiday we will be staying in a mountain lodge on the edge of Rothiemurchas forest on the northern edge of the Cairngorms National Park and on the banks of the River Druie. We are right beside access to some of the best trails in the whole area, a few k from the amenities if Aviemore, and just a 10 minute walk from an excellent pub.

There are 6 ensuite rooms as bunks, twins or doubles (please call at the time of booking if you would like a double), open plan lounge/diner/kitchen/bar with open fire and TV with plenty of space for 12 to chill, and an all-important outhouse with washing machine and dryer!

We provide all hearty breakfasts including cooked options, coffee and teas, post-ride cakes and most evening meals.

Is it for me?

Similar to our Torridon trip in style but not quite as technical, as often! There is a true sense of adventure in Cairngorms riding. Long climbs and long, long descents. Although there are a few technical sections with steep tight turns and rocky drops, fitness is more important here than technical ability. Our leaders are always on hand to talk you though any short sections of trickiness too. So, if dramatic, high mountain landscapes are your thing, then yes, this is the Cairngorms guided MTB holiday for you!

E-bike friendly?

Yes. Please see our policy on e-bikes and after booking please let us know if you will be riding an e-bike.

Getting there

It’s easier than you might think!……

By arrangement we offer a free pick-up and drop-off service to and from Inverness airport or Aviemore train station. Low cost airlines run services from many UK airports to Inverness and bike carriage costs about £30 each way. The transfer from Inverness to our base near Aviemore is less than an hour. Please talk to us before booking your flights so that we can coordinate transfers. The sleeper train can be an economic way to travel from London and bikes go free but need to be booked in advance.

Alternatively our base is a scenic 3 hour drive north of Glasgow or Edinburgh.

After booking, your joining details will be sent to you 6 weeks before your holiday begins.
