Scotland’s majestic mountain scenery is without doubt well worth the long trip north that many of us have to make. Very few places on earth match the drama and beauty of high mountains, sparkling lochs and white sandy beaches…..and mile upon mile of beautiful, grippy, flowing singletrack meandering through the landscapes. Torridon & Applecross have been given glowing attention by IMB magazine, by Singletrack magazine and was voted recently in MBR as the top natural mountain biking destination in the UK. We will also be nipping over the Skye bridge for undoubtedly the best ride on the island; a loop from Sligachan taking in the stunning Camasunary Bay under the watchful gaze of the Black Cuillin Mountains, famed stomping ground of one Mr Danny Macaskill.

No other guiding company covers more Torridon miles on more days than WildBike – guaranteed. At least three of our routes are unique and we pioneer new expeditions into this awesome wilderness every year, as well as the more established favourites. We will be climbing over the stunning high mountain passes between Glen Torridon and Glen Carron, following the major grin-fest that is the swooping singletrack of Applecross, picking and flowing our way down the slickrock-and-rubble 7km descent to Achnashellach, and exploring remote trails to the white-beach fringed lochs behind the Torridon mountains. All the time with the backdrop of the jaw-dropping splendour of Ben Eighe, Liathach or Slioch.

We only run this trip in late April or early May when the West Highland weather tends to be at its most settled, and avoiding the pesky midges of summer!

Your Torridon Accommodation

On this Torridon mountain biking holiday we will be staying right on the shore of Loch Torridon in a stunning, new, architect designed lodge, complete with wood fired hot tub on the deck with stunning outlook across the loch to Liathach and Benin Alligin – truly one of the finest views in Scotland! We are a few minutes pedal to the local store, cafe and pub but isolated enough for complete tranquility and visits from Red Deer and Golden Eagles.

The house has a mix of ensuite doubles and twins with plenty of room for 8 to 10 guests, a huge lounge/dining area with woodburner, washer/dryer and loads of bike fettling space.

Is it for me?

If remote, dramatic mountain landscapes are your thing, then yes, this Torridon guided MTB holiday is for you! There is a real sense of adventure in our Torridon riding. Long climbs and long, long descents. Although there are some undeniably technical sections with steep tight turns and rocky drops, fitness is more important here than technical ability. Our leaders are also on hand to talk you through any short sections of trickiness! In summary, you’ll need a sense of adventure and a good level of fitness for the long climbs but the riding is never very technical for too long.

E-bike friendly?

No, sorry, this trip is not suitable for e-bikes.
