Exmoor squeezes some 400 miles of bridleway into its diminutive 267 square miles, creating a dense network of superb trails. You will find sweeping double-track across the high moorland with stunning views out to sea, flowing singletrack through the beautiful miniature oak forests that line the steep sided combes behind Porlock and Lynton, as well as beautiful paths under the beech trees beside Exmoor’s twin rivers – the Barle and the Exe.

Our Wild Trail riding trip includes a mix of riding on all the types of trails Exmoor has to offer. Exmoor is our home territory and because of the density of possible trails, if anywhere requires local knowledge to find the best riding, it’s here.

This range of well-drained trails makes Exmoor ideal for riders of all experience and abilities at any time of year.

Your Exmoor Wild Trails BaseCamp

For this Exmoor mountain biking holiday you will be staying at our original Exmoor BaseCamp, in a stunning location in the midst of miles of natural trails. We choose our campsites for their blend of atmospheric loveliness and clean and modern facilities, always with plenty of hot showers!

This one is in a sheltered, sunny position beside the infant river Exe and partially shaded by a stand of majestic beech trees. It is a couple of level miles from village amenities including a shop (amazing ice-cream), 2 pubs and a tea shop.

Is it for me?

If you’re just ready to graduate from the groomed flow of the Trail Centre to some proper Wild Riding, this Exmoor guided MTB holiday is for you! Technically, the riding on this holiday would generally equate to trail centre blue runs, plus a few more random rocks and roots. Fitness is more important here than technical ability, as Exmoor’s trails can be steep and we will be riding for up to 5 hours per day. Relaxed pace, with as many tea shop stops as your cholesterol levels can handle!

E-bike friendly?

Yes. Please see our policy on e-bikes and after booking please let us know if you will be riding an e-bike.

Getting there

For reference and as a guide, the heart of Exmoor is 3 hours drive from the M25, 3 hours from the M42 around Birmingham and less than 2 hours from Bristol.

As part of our commitment to green travel, we offer a FREE pick-up and drop-off service from and to Taunton railway station.

Travel and arrival details will be sent to you 6 weeks before your holiday begins.
