The Cairngorms National Park is the highest and most remote upland area in Britain, containing 5 of the 6 highest mountains in Scotland. The scenery is cut through by the purest mountain rivers and by beautiful glens lined with ancient Caledonian pine forest. Mountain Biking amid this stunning scenery is a privileged experience not to be missed.

If you have already been on one of our Cairngorms trips, you will know there is too much here to do justice to in just one week. So we have expanded our repertoire into Royal Deeside! This trip will include some justly famous and epic rides, including at least 3 days on high mountains as well as top notch Enduro style shenanigans in the forests surrounding Ballater and Aboyne. The high mountain singletrack rides will include Heartbreak Ridge off Pannanich Hill, and epic ascents of Morven and our all-time favourite, Beinn A’Bhuird. We will also have time to squeeze in a high mountain lap of glorious Loch Muick over the Capel Mounth on the Balmoral Estate.

Your Cairngorms Accommodation

On this Cairngorms South MTB holiday we will be staying right in the heart of the Deeside MTB scene in the beautiful village of Ballater under the shadow of the Lochnagar Munroes and a few minutes stroll from cafes, bars and a superb bike shop! Our Lodge has all the facilities you would expect and is a perfect base to get out onto the trails.

We provide all hearty breakfasts including cooked options, coffee and teas, post-ride cakes and most evening meals.

What’s included in this Cairngorms MTB Holiday?

  • 5 days guided riding by friendly, qualified guides in small groups
  • 6 nights luxury accommodation near Ballater, right in the centre of the mountain-biking action.
  • 4 two-course evening meals with wine (2 evenings at excellent local pubs or restaurants, not included in cost of holiday)
  • 6 hearty breakfasts
  • Coffees, teas and post-ride cakes!
  • Optional transfers from airport or rail station
  • Support of our specially converted MTB race van
  • Bikewash, lock-up and mechanical support
  • Some Soul! fresh coffee, great music, homemade cakes, loch swimming…!

Is it for me?

Similar to our Torridon trip in the technical riding stakes, but the rocks up in the hills are a friendlier shape and thus more rollable! Some of the Enduro trails in the woods, as you might expect, are proper steep, gnarly and rooty! Fitness is definitely important as these are big, bold rides for 5 days in a row. So, if a mix of dramatic high mountain landscapes and woodsy plummeting is your thing, sign up for this Deeside MTB adventure.

E-bike friendly?

Yes, but much more suited to lightweight e-bikes as there is one necessary hike a bike where pushing won’t work! Please see our policy on e-bikes and after booking please let us know if you will be riding an e-bike.
