WildBike is a Lakes MTB specialist offering more riding options here than any other guiding company. We run three different MTB experiences in this stunning adventure playground: This ‘all mountain’ trip in the South, our new ‘Lakes End to End (and back again)’, and a short, punchy ‘High Mountains and High Passes’ in the North. Get in touch if you would like us to help you decide which is the perfect adventure for you.

The Lake District is blessed with a fantastic variety of awesome natural trails. The highest concentration of interesting singletrack is undoubtedly in the Southern end of the Lakes, between Coniston, Windermere and Langdale. Here the scenery is slightly softer than the highest mountains further North, and that’s what makes this area such a unique and frankly brilliant mountain biking destination. On this break we will head for the sweet singletrack of Claife Heights, Coniston, Great Langdale and Loughrigg.

The trails here are undoubtedly ‘All Mountain’ – challenging and rocky and in places steep, but here the flow is easier to find and the climbs and descents are of more manageable portions than our High Mountains holiday further north.

Your Lake District All Mountain Accommodation

On this Lake District mountain biking holiday you will be comfortably housed in our private bunkhouse, owned by the National Trust and beautifully situated in a woodland clearing on the slopes of Claife Heights near Hawkshead. The bunkhouse offers simple but homely accommodation with full size bunkbeds in 2 eight bed rooms, hot showers, comfortable seating and a lounge area with woodburning stove.

You will be able to ride straight out from BaseCamp onto the fellside trails, yet we are only a short pedal into Ambleside or Hawkshead with their many pubs, cafes and kit shops. So if you don’t go home with a new coat, you’re doing something wrong!

What’s included in this Lake District MTB Holiday?

Is it for me?

Almost certainly! As long as you are happy riding on loose stoney tracks and rolling over big rocks and boulders, then you will enjoy this Lake District guided MTB holiday. The singletrack (and even doubletrack), although rough and rocky, has a flow to it unsurpassed on natural trails in England. If you are comfortable with trail centre Red runs, you will love the challenge of these trails, and we will always be around for a spot of coaching through the tricky bits on your request. Your fitness for the climbs coupled with a smattering of technical prowess will serve you well.

Our more modest ‘Toughness’ score of 7.5 for this trip is due to shorter climbs and less remoteness and exposure than on our other Lakes trips.

E-bike friendly?

Yes. Please see our policy on e-bikes and after booking please let us know if you will be riding an e-bike.
