3 days, 3 rides in 3 different places all based from one wonderful spot. Don’t know why we didn’t think of that sooner! This promises to become a WildBike favourite. So what’s it all about?
Day 1 will be spent on a big mountain ride, with some stunning off-piste singletrack high up on the gritty ridges of the Black Mountains. We’ll spend most of the day above 600 metres, with three awesome singletrack plummets to the green valleys below. The views are immense and the sense of being ‘right out there’ biking is incredible. The highlight has to be the final long, flowing singletrack descent off Crug Mawr to a welcome pint at The Bear in Crickhowell!
Day 2 will be a Brecons Classic – our take on the Two Passes ride that goes within touching distance of The Brecons highest summit, Pen-y-fan. This ride has some gentle canal-side bimbling to get your legs working before climbing twice to the 600 metre contour on rocky, rubbley, proper wild trails.
And on Day 3 we’ll guide you off piste at one of South Wales’ famous trail centres. Take your pick from Bike Park Wales, Cwmcarn or even the Forest of Dean. Or if you prefer, we’ll guide you on another unforgettable wild ride from the bunkhouse door.

Is it for me?
We reckon you’ll love this Brecon Beacons guided MTB holiday if you like riding high and remote for a couple of days then fancy a bit of a play on Sunday!
The riding in the Brecons and Black Mountains is generally not as technical as some of our other destinations like the Lakes or Peaks, but there are some stretches of steep boulderiness that you will need to tackle. You will also need the kit and the mindset to ride for a few hours in potentially hostile weather and away from cake and shelter, due to the prolonged time spent up high on the hill, above 600metres!
Getting there
For reference and as a guide, our base near Crickhowell between the Black Mountains and the Brecons is an hour from Bristol over the Severn Bridge or an hour and a half from the M42 around Birmingham.
If you prefer to travel by train we can pick you up and drop you off at Abergavenny station, about 20 minutes from the bunkhouse.
After booking, your joining details will be sent to you 6 weeks before your holiday.
