If you fancy some early season sunshine and some of the most spectacular riding on the planet, you have found it here!

There is a small corner of South-West Utah and into Arizona and Nevada which is dry, snow-free, perfectly warm (low 20s in the daytime), and with almost zero humidity in early Spring and Autumn. We will ride three different areas, firstly Bootleg Canyon just outside Vegas, then around Sedona in Arizona and finally onto the high Mesa country of South west Utah, near Hurricane and St George where the original Red Bull Rampage events were held. The riding in Sedona is sweet-flowing, red rock singletrack, technical and exposed if you want it to be (and not if you don’t) (check it out here http:/otesports.com/locations/sedona/trails/) amid a truly stunning Western movie landscape – think Lake District style riding in red-rock cowboy country. And the town of Sedona has a unique hippy/rock’n’roll/desert chic kinda atmosphere. The flat(ish) topped, steep-sided Mesas of SW Utah are different, but another mountain biking nirvana too – all technical slickrock singletrack weaving its way between, through and over truck-sized chunks of smooth yet grippy boulders, testing your flow and your balance in equal measure.

These areas are separated by a stunning day’s drive through the high deserts and along and around the Grand Canyon, where we can stop and pedal along the Canyon rim at sunset.

Your Utah and Arizona Accommodation

It’s a road trip baby! On this Utah and Arizona mountain biking holiday, basecamp will be 2 RV trailers pulled by 4WD Ford F150 pick-up trucks, with all the important comfort stuff like air-con, U.S. sized toilet and shower, fridge, freezer, massive water tanks…… there’s a big home-sized cooker too, but only your guides will be using that to prepare delicious fresh food for you most mealtimes.

You can hire a sleeping mat and quality tent from us at checkout for a modest fee, or you are welcome to bring your own.

And we’ll be parking in some proper cool locations too – amongst the red-rock towers and bluffs around Sedona, and right on the edge of Goosebury Mesa with a stunning view into Zion canyon by day and just a million stars all around by night.

“I’ve got a peaceful easy feeling, and I know you won’t let me down….”

Bikes, riding and guiding

We recommend bringing your own bike – it is £60 each way with BA or Virgin! A 140-170mm travel full suss bike would be ideal in this terrain. It is possible, however, to hire good bikes locally for each leg of the trip (let us know in good time if you would like us to arrange this). Getting hold of common spares from local bike shops won’t be a problem, but please bring spare brake pads and a derailleur hanger specific for your bike.

The terrain is a mix of slickrock, sand, boulders and rubble, most of it on flowable singletrack. If you are experienced at riding in wild British terrain or on Welsh trail centre red runs, for example, you will love the riding here. Rides will be 25 to 40 km with 400 to 800m of elevation change.
