The Yorkshire Dales, Swaledale to be exact, is a stunningly beautiful, lush, green valley. And it’s as though it was designed for mountain biking! Manageable climbs, long ridges and edges with vast views, and cracking, sometimes rocky, sometimes loose, sometimes rolling grassy, all singletrack descents. All of it fantastically well drained. And tea shops. And pubs. Nothing’s missing!

And for what it’s worth, Swaledale is home to the UK’s largest multi-day mountain bike event, the ‘Ard Rock Enduro. They hold it here for good reason.

The unique trail features that make riding in Swaledale such a treat are the old mining gulleys, or hush gullies. Descending a hush gully is like riding a bermed, rock strewn rollercoaster, popping out a few minutes later in the valley floor. If you are properly up for it we can check out the rubbley carnage of Gunnerside Gill – not for the feint-hearted!

Your Swaledale All Mountain Accommodation

On this Yorkshire Dales Mountain Biking Holiday we will be staying in a private bunkhouse right above a bike shop! Perfection! The cafe for breakfast is just next door, there are 4 great pubs only a short stroll away, and best of all its slap bang in the middle of the Dales’ best trails!

Is it for me?

If you like big skies, big views and you love fast, open, sometimes loose, rubbley descents, then this Yorkshire Dales guided MTB holiday is the one for you! The rides are pretty big, maybe up to 40km, but many of the climbs are not too steep, and the going is never draggy because of the nature of the rocky ground here, making progress fairly swift compared to, say, The Lakes or Peaks.

E-bike friendly?

Yes. Please see our policy on e-bikes and after booking please let us know if you will be riding an e-bike.
