Covid-19 update

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the safety and security of our guests, our staff and our suppliers is paramount.

Before joining a WildBike holiday you will be asked to show full Covid vaccination status or a negative Covid test in the previous 24 hours.

We will make decisions about going ahead with or cancelling holidays on a trip by trip basis, reflecting government advice, WHO advice, and the detailed local situation at our destination. Although we will give as much notice as possible, because of the rapidly changing situation we may need to make late decisions.

In case of enforced cancellation of a trip, we will continue to be as flexible as possible through 2021 and 2022, offering alternative dates or credit for a future holiday. In specific circumstances where we conclude this is not possible, we will offer a refund. This policy is in line with the European Commission for Consumers’ advice on travel directive in connection with Covid-19.

If you decide, independently, not to travel and choose to cancel your holiday, our usual cancellation terms will apply. In specific circumstances travel insurance may cover nonrefundable cancellation costs.

Stay safe and thank you for your understanding at this difficult time for us all.

Toughness Rating:
7.5 out of 10

The Yorkshire Dales, Swaledale to be exact, is a stunningly beautiful, lush, green valley. And it’s as though it was designed for mountain biking! Manageable climbs, long ridges and edges with vast views, and cracking, sometimes rocky, sometimes loose, sometimes rolling grassy, all singletrack descents. All of it fantastically well drained. And tea shops. And pubs. Nothing’s missing!

And for what it’s worth, Swaledale is home to the UK’s largest multi-day mountain bike event, the ‘Ard Rock Enduro. They hold it here for good reason.

The unique trail features that make riding in Swaledale such a treat are the old mining gulleys, or hush gullies. Descending a hush gully is like riding a bermed, rock strewn rollercoaster, popping out a few minutes later in the valley floor. If you are properly up for it we can check out the rubbley carnage of Gunnerside Gill – not for the feint-hearted!

Your Swaledale All Mountain Accommodation

On this Yorkshire Dales mountain biking holiday we will be staying in a well equipped large private bunkhouse, set in its own grounds with plenty of hot showers, heating and other vital facilities, with immediate access right out onto all the trails. There is plenty of parking and it is a short walk to an excellent pub. This is converted from one of Swaledale’s iconic field barns that dot the landscape here.

What’s included in this Yorkshire Dales MTB Holiday?

  • 3 days guided riding by qualified guides in small groups
  • 3 nights private bunkhouse accommodation
  • 3 hearty breakfasts
  • A Saturday evening BBQ, weather permitting
  • Coffee, tea, wine and beer
  • Post-ride cake!
  • Support of our MTB race van
  • Bikewash, secure lock-up and mechanical support
  • Some soul! fresh coffee, homemade cake, bbq, music ….

Is it for me?

If you like big skies, big views and you love fast, open, sometimes loose, rubbley descents, then this Yorkshire Dales guided MTB holiday is the one for you! The rides are pretty big, maybe up to 40km, but many of the climbs are not too steep, and the going is never draggy because of the nature of the rocky ground here, making progress fairly swift compared to, say, The Lakes or Peaks.

Getting there

For reference and as a guide, our base in Low Row, Swaledale, is 5 hours drive from the M25, 2.5 hours from the M42 around Birmingham and 1.5 hours from Manchester.

Unfortunately rail travel is not an option for this trip, sorry.

After booking, your joining details will be sent to you 6 weeks before your holiday begins.
