Such is the overwhelming choice of endless natural, wild, technical trails in the Lake District, amid the world renowned splendour of rugged peaks and serene lakes, that it is a real challenge to do it any justice in just one visit. But we have given it a good go and we think we have found the sweet spot here with our Lakes End to End (and back again)!

This trip is a serious undertaking, including some of the highest summits and passes, steepest and longest descents, and all the nadger and gnarr the Lake District can throw at you. Each day will involve on average 45km and 1750m up and down, and involve some necessary sections of hike-a-bike. When you complete this trip, you could come close to saying you have “done the Lake District”! Close.

In summary…

Day 1: Keswick to Glenridding. Including Lonscale, Helvellyn summit and Sticks Pass descent.
Day 2: Glenridding to Ambleside. Including Ullswater lake shore, High Street summit and Nan Bield Pass descent.
Day 3: Ambleside to Seathwaite. Including Grizedale, Parkamoor and Walna Scar.
Day 4: Seathwaite to Keswick. Including Wasdale, Sty Head and Castle Crag descent.

Your Lake District End to End MTB Accommodation

For flexibility, convenience and to continue the real ‘out there’ adventure, we will be using the WildBike camping set-up for this trip. So that means we will set up the whole shebang for you at the end of each stage and carry your evening and night-time kit in the WildBike van between campsites. The ‘shebang’ includes a high quality tent to yourself with comfortable sleeping mat and plenty of undercover seating to share a beer and a tale at the end of an epic days’ ride. We will provide a quality breakfast in the morning with plenty of coffee fuel and a few complimentary local brews in the evening. The campsites we choose are all in stunning surroundings with clean, modern facilities and close to famous mountain pubs for your well deserved evening meal.

Is it for me?

This is tough big mountain riding where the outstanding rewards of the descents come with big climbs. You need to be comfortable with shouldering your bike, with potential exposure to serious mountain weather, and with riding loose, rocky, long descents. So if you’re ready with a well serviced enduro rig, a good coat, a good degree of fitness and bags of attitude…come on down for the ride of your life on this Lake District End to End (and back again) epic mountain biking holiday!

E-bike friendly?

No, sorry, this trip is not suitable for e-bikes.
