Toughness Rating:

Highest mountains, deepest lakes, most summits, steepest road…….the English Lake District has them all. Rocky, rubbley, rooty, flowing, steep, technical….. and any other adjective you could throw at a mountain biking trail – the Lakes has them all too.

WildBike is a Lakes MTB specialist, offering more riding options here than any other company. We run three different MTB experiences in this stunning adventure playground: All Mountain in the South Lakes, High Mountains & High Passes in the North Lakes, and by special request, The Epic Enduro Lap. Get in touch if you would like us to help you decide which is the perfect adventure for you.

During this High Mountains holiday we will tackle the high rideable summits of the Northern and Eastern Lake District – Helvellyn, Skiddaw and High Street (a big bulky ridge ride that provides one of the longest high level traverses in the UK). All of them close to, or above, 3000 feet. The passes that join it all together are full of epic riding too – Nan Bield, Sticks, Black Sail. The views on a good day are astounding and the adrenaline rush builds at the thought of the epic descent ahead.

Out of all our holidays, you will get the most from this trip if you are really up for a challenge. The ups are long and steep and you will be carrying or pushing your bike on some sections; the downs are fast, long and often loose and/or rocky. Technical sections are never too far around the corner!

Your Lake District WildBike BaseCamp

On this Lake District mountain biking holiday we choose our campsites for their blend of atmospheric loveliness and clean and modern facilities, always with plenty of hot showers!

In common with all our BaseCamps, your Lake District BaseCamp is nicely sheltered and has awesome views from the tent door right across Ullswater and over the Helvellyn range. On-site breakfast bap caravan too!

You will be able to ride straight out of BaseCamp onto the high mountain trails, yet we are only a short pedal from the pubs and cafes of Glenridding.

Is it for me?

This is tough big mountain riding where the outstanding rewards of the descents come with big climbs. You need to be comfortable with the thought of shouldering your bike (we can show you a few tips to make this quite a comfortable experience!), with potential exposure to some serious mountain weather, and with riding loose, rocky, long descents. So if you are ready with an AM or Enduro bike, a good coat, a good degree of fitness and bags of attitude….come on down for the ride of your life on this Lake District guided MTB holiday!
