FAQs: At BaseCamp

* Applies only to our holidays using Luxury Camping accommodation *

Where will I be sleeping?

In a quality mountain tent made from high performance waterproof material with a hydrostatic head of 5000mm. That means you’ll stay dry even in the foulest of conditions.  You will be sleeping on a slim but remarkably luxurious, self-inflating camp mattress, almost guaranteed to be more comfortable than the local B&B!  Our WildBike tents are designed for three, but you will be sharing with just one other WildBiker!  They also have a huge storage area in the fly-sheet which has its own separate groundsheet, big enough for all your kit should you choose to store it there.

Can I have a tent to myself, please?

Yes you can, for a surcharge of £50.  Please stipulate this on your booking form.

What are the washing facilities like?

All our basecamps have clean, modern toilet facilities, including free hot showers.  This is camping, so don’t expect granite and marble, but facilities are clean and comfortable.

Where do we eat?

In comfortable chairs around a dining table under our superb 3m x 6m FlexTent canopy.  We have the option to leave the sides open on warmer evenings or zip ourselves in on cooler evenings. The whole scene is lit by low-energy, highly effective and unobtrusive LED lighting.

What’s the social scene?

Our social hub is a huge traditional bell tent with plenty of comfy seating and lounging space!  On cool evenings we will light the woodburner and often have a campfire outside.  But don’t think sing-songs and hi-de-hi.  We might play some grown-up music or some cool movies (a white canvas tent wall makes a wonderful projector screen!) whilst relaxing with a beer or a glass of wine.

Can I go to the pub?

We will usually be based a short walk or pedal from the local pub, so of course you can. But you might not want to!

Will I have to muck in with the campsite chores?

Nope! WildBike guides will put up and take down your tent, cook your breakfast (we’ve even got basic catering qualifications for that!), cook your bar-b-q, wash the dishes, light your fire etc etc..  Hey, you might want to pass the wine around or fling another log on the fire, but that’s about it!
